XC Girls Bring Home Trophies from Chickasaw
The BJHS Girls Varsity and JV Cross Country teams stole the show at the huge regional Chickasaw Trails Invitational. There were almost 1800 athletes from 70 schools across AL, TN, and MS competing.

The Varsity Girls team won 3rd place in their event with Senior Hannah Thuss winning the race. Teammates Marjorie Baumbach and Lorin Carter had great races as well finishing 5th and 6th.

The JV Girls won 2nd place in their 2.1 mile race running strong under the noon day sun. Sarah Pennell finished 4th with sister Rachel in 5th. Madisyn Lambertson finished 14th in her first race ever with teammate Aubrey Spindle in at 18th. 7th grader Alexa Skelley had a strong race as well finishing high enough in the points to help the team bring home the 2nd place trophy.

The Varsity Boys had strong runs in three separate races this week highlighted by Senior Ryan Goldsmith’s personal record, beating his previous best time by over 58 seconds. Mateo Santiago, Cameron Cummings, Cole Smelser, Logan Konopatzke, and Steven Satcher also had personal bests on this Alabama state championship course.

The entire BJHS Cross Country Team (Boys and Girls Varsity and JV) is off to a great start wrapping up the third week of the season having brought home five trophies.

Next week XC travels to the Cullman area to face 33 teams from across North and Central Alabama.
