A sea of red rushed the field Friday night as the Bob Jones Patriots delivered a complete grounding of the baby-blue team from across town. For the second week in a row, the offense put up 50-plus points while the defense showed its stubborn side, leading to a 54–7 victory. The win improves the Patriots to 3–0—their best start since some of the players were just 4, 5, and 6 years old. The last time Bob Jones sat in this position was the 2015 season.
The Patriots’ ground game was unstoppable, racking up 265 rushing yards, led by a huge night from Jaden Rice, who gained 199 yards on the ground. The offensive line paved the way, giving the backs room to run and protecting quarterback Jacoby Gill, who threw for 233 yards and a touchdown. Most of Gill’s passing yards went to Chris Caterina, who tallied 120 receiving yards and found the end zone once.
Defensively, Romeo Washington stood out again with 13 tackles. Tyler Karl and Sheldon Sharp added nine and eight tackles, respectively, while seven different players recorded tackles for loss. The kicking game continued to impress as Nolan Whigham and Rocky Ray connected on PATs and field goal attempts.
Looking ahead, the Patriots aim to build on their 3–0 start and 1–0 region standing as they prepare to host another Huntsville rival. To continue proving their dominance, the Patriots will need to face all of the teams from that town.
Fans, come out Friday night and be part of the “Big Red Wave” that will send this opponent back east!
