OUR PATRIOTS QUICKLY SEND THE GENERALS MARCHING BACK TO HUNTSVILLE
The Bob Jones Patriots made quick work of the team from Huntsville with all cylinders firing in a 50 - 28 wipe out. The impressive part? The Patriots hung half a hundred on the Huntsville team by halftime! If you were updating folks with the scores during the first half you had finger cramps midway through the 2nd quarter due to the pace at which the Patriots were scoring. This wipe-out was preceded by a nice little win in the town down I-65, 28 - 3. It is the second year in a row Bob Jones has opened the season 2 - 0 and will be looking to stretch the record to 3 - 0 as they face the crosstown rival Friday night at 7:00.
The team has shown ample offensive power to start the season moving the ball both with the pass and run. Gakobey Gill has led the way with his arm totaling 466 yards passing and six touchdowns. On the receiving end of most of those completions has been BJ Carter with 169 receiving yards and three scores. On the ground Jaden Rice has covered 90 yards while crossing the goal line twice.
The defense has been just as tough, laying out opponents and disrupting plays. Romeo Washington and Tyler Karl lead the team with 11 tackles apiece. Miles Mitchell and Karl have tallied three sacks each, while Nakobi Weatherspoon has created chaos with three QB hurries. Aaron Mitchell has secured the lone interception through two games.
The Patriots are expecting a huge crowd Friday night as they take on the baby-blue team from down the road. The best band in Alabama will have the stadium rocking, and the BJHS cheerleaders will keep the energy high. We look forward to seeing you there as the Patriots aim to move to 3–0!
