Braeden Netherton

Coaching Background:
Coach Netherton began her coaching career at Decatur High School in 2017. In 2021, she became the varsity head softball coach at A.P. Brewer High School and, in 2024, took the helm at Bob Jones High School. She brings 9 years of coaching experience, including 5 years as a head coach.

Playing Career:
A standout athlete, Netherton started on her high school varsity softball team in 7th grade. She went on to earn a softball scholarship to Alabama Southern Community College (Faulkner State, Monroeville), where she competed in both softball and cheerleading.

Education:

    • High School: Tharptown High School

    • Associate’s in Liberal Arts – Alabama Southern Community College

    • Bachelor’s in English Literature (Minor in Education) – Athens State University

    • Master’s in English Education – University of West Alabama

    • Master’s in Education – 18 graduate hours

Coaching Philosophy:
"We over me."
The Bob Jones softball program thrives on selfless commitment to the team. Coach Netherton emphasizes putting team goals ahead of personal stats, lifting up teammates after mistakes, celebrating others’ successes, and playing every role with pride. She believes that by developing selfless athletes, the program not only wins games but also shapes leaders, friends, and people of character on and off the field.

Career Highlights:

    • 2019 Decatur High School New Teacher of the Year

    • 2023 Hartselle Inquire Coach of the Year

Favorite Coaching Moment:
While coaching at Brewer, her team overcame a 7-run deficit in the 5th inning against Arab High School during the area tournament, battling back to win and advance to the 5A Regional Tournament.

Personal Interests:
Spending time with her husband Hunter and their two boys, Baylor and Boston.
