Jared Smith

Coach Smith is entering his 9th season at Bob Jones.  Smith currently holds a (239-114) record in eight years at Bob Jones with a career record of (283-148) in ten seasons. Smith’s teams have won 40+ games one season, 30+ games in five seasons and 25+ games in seven seasons of his career.  Smith has broken the school record for wins in three of his ten seasons as head coach.  Smith became the winningest coach in Bob Jones school history in 2022.

In 2019, Smith led the Patriots to a 7A State Runner-Up finish for only the 2nd time in school history and the winningest season in history with 42 wins.  The 2019 team broke thirteen school records including Wins (42), Home Runs (51), Doubles (132), Runs (383), Hits (492), Runs (425), and RBIs (366).

Smith was named the All-Huntsville Region Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2016.  Smith was also named the coach of the AHSAA North-South All-Star game in 2019.  Smith has helped forty-one players earn baseball scholarships in ten years.  Smith has also coached twenty-five players to All-State honors, three players to All-American honors, and two players were named 7A Hitter of the Year.  Smith has had one MLB draft pick in 4th rounder, Dylan Ray.

Coach Smith is originally from Russellville, AL where he played baseball and basketball at Phil Campbell High School. Prior to coming to Bob Jones High School, Coach Smith spent two years as head coach at Dothan High School.  In Smith’s first year, he led Dothan to their first winning season since 2001 and the most wins (19) the school has seen since 1999. 

In Smith’s second year as head coach, he led Dothan to their winningest season in school history with 25 wins.  The 2015 team won the Area 3 Championship and advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs for the first time since 2002.  The Tigers also won 20 games for the 1st time since 1999 and hosted a playoff game for the first time since 2002.  Smith’s teams won more games in a 2-year period (44 wins) than any other team in school history.  

Prior to arriving at Dothan High School, Smith spent five years at Northridge High School (6A) in Tuscaloosa, AL where he was a varsity assistant/JV head baseball coach and assistant football coach.  Prior to being at Northridge High School, Coach Smith was a volunteer assistant coach on the 2007 State Championship staff at Hillcrest High School (6A).

Smith teaches Driver's Education at Bob Jones High School and is married to the former Hannah Campbell of Selma with one son, Rhett (3).
