Coach Smith is entering his 10th season at Bob Jones. Smith currently holds a (283-123) record in nine years at Bob Jones with a career record of (327-157) in 11 seasons. Smith’s teams have won 40+ games in two seasons, 30+ games in six seasons and 25+ games in eight seasons of his career. Smith has broken the school record for wins in four of his eleven seasons as head coach.  Smith became the winningest coach in Bob Jones school history in 2022.

In 2024, Smith led the Patriots to the 7A State Championship for the first time in school history while finishing with a (44-9) record. The Pats finished the season ranked nationally by Perfect Game (#4), PBR (#5), Baseball America (#9), and MaxPreps (#17) while beating the #1 team in the country (IMG Academy, FL) to win the Perfect Game High School Showdown.

In 2019, Smith led the Patriots to a 7A State Runner-Up finish for only the 2nd time in school history and the winningest season in history with 42 wins. 

Smith was named the AlaBCA 7A Coach of the Year in 2024. Smith was also named the All-Huntsville Region Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2016 and named the coach of the AHSAA North-South All-Star game in 2019. Smith has helped forty-five players earn baseball scholarships in eleven years. Smith has also coached twenty-nine players to All-State honors, four players to All-American honors, and three players were named 7A Hitter of the Year. Smith has coached one Mr. Baseball Award Winner, Gatorade Player of the Year, and one 7A Pitcher of the Year. Smith has also coached two MLB draft picks.  

Prior to coming to Bob Jones High School, Coach Smith spent two years as head coach at Dothan High School. In Smith’s first year, he led Dothan to their first winning season since 2001 and the most wins (19) the school has seen since 1999. In Smith’s second year as head coach, he led Dothan to their winningest season in school history with 25 wins. 

Smith teaches Driver's Education at Bob Jones High School and is married to the former Hannah Campbell of Selma with two sons, Rhett (4) and Campbell (8 months).
