Background:
Coach Joy has been part of Discovery for 7 years, with 23 years of experience, he has coached football, golf, wrestling, tennis, and bowling. He earned his Arts and Science degree at Bowling State University, completed his Teaching Certificate at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and holds both a Master’s and Ed.S. degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Athletic & Coaching Highlights:

• Won a state title in bowling while coaching at Vestavia.

• First teaching job: snowboard instructor.

• Coaching philosophy inspired by Yoda: "Do, or do not. There is no try."

• Favorite part of coaching: Helping athletes discover they’re capable of more than they imagined.

Fun Fact: Sadly, Coach Ethan has never been a professional athlete , but he’s coached like one in multiple sports.
